My journey towards entrepreneurship hatched in the offices of a small Washington DC marketing agency. I found myself frustrated with not being able to truly express my skills and talents, and having all of my ideas fall on deaf ears. But with an unwavering faith, support and determination (fueled out of frustration and anger after I lost my job) in 2008, I made a decision that would forever change my life.  After working endlessly for companies where I did everything from developing promotional packages, marketing plan, event budgets, website development, database implementation, sales presentations and even writing employee and policy manuals, “I realized that I was a born entrepreneur.” It was at that very moment that I knew that I had all of the skills and tools to do this on my own.”

Bouncing back from Rock Bottom

Without a mentor or coach to guide me, I immersed myself in books, online training forums and courses on marketing for small business owners, better business blogging advice, and social media marketing for homepreneurs. Using my offline client’s computer, I started thinking and expressing my thoughts, interests, and opinions about my journey through motherhood on my very first blog at TheCocktailCafe.com. With a lot of writing, connecting with my readers and harnessing the power of social media and online marketing, I was able to launch a successful radio show and celebrity interviews with best selling authors and Hollywood celebrities and reality show moms such as the entire cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (NeNe Leakes, Lisa, and Kandi), Sheryl-Lee Ralph (the original dream girl), Producer of The Vagina Monologues Yetta Young of YYP, LLC, to Author of “The Problem with Women is Men” by my good friend Coach Charles Orlando and much much more…

Why and how did I use blogging to increase my business, credibility and my influence?

After only 3 months of frequent, consistent writing to a select group of moms, Google sent me a check in the mail as my reward for generating enough traffic to my hobby mom blog that came with the typcial Adsense insert my Wordpress blog templates package. It was at the very moment that I realized that power of blogging for profit within my target market who came daily to read my recommendations and opinions.
